From the Mash Tun

connieNews from your local distiller…

Our first batch of Carbondale grown, Nieslanik soft white wheat was mashed Thanskgiving Weekend and is busily fermenting creating our Crystal River Vodka 80.  We are proud to be partnering with the Nieslanik Ranch to grow our grains and take our stillage to help produce their famous and all natural, Nieslanik Beef, which further reduces Marble Distilling Co.’s carbon footprint by sourcing grains and disposing of spent mash within ½ mile of our distillery.  The soft white wheat is part of our mash bill for both our Rye/Wheat Whiskey, Bourbon & Vodka. This spring we hope to add Triticale and Rye from Nieslanik Ranch to the mix!

We are excited to be showcasing our Rye/Wheat Whiskey in four signature cocktails in our tasting room.  Our small barrel releases are showcasing beautifully, so stop by the Marble Bar to enjoy the spirit of “The One Eyed Hound”.  Hoover’s Revenge, MDC’s signature Whiskey releases, named in honor of our shelter rescue distillery hound, Hoover, will be bottled and available for sale in late Q12017.  However, you can get a sneak preview taste of our Ragged Mountain Rye by stopping by this Holiday Season.

Speaking of delicious . . . Whiskey. Several of our Barrel Club members have sampled their private barrels and some expletives were heard – “Holy S _ _ _, This is amazing after only 9 months!”  We are looking forward to some more creative comments from Barrel Club members, so call ahead to have your barrel ready for sampling.  With only 28 barrels remaining in the club cabinet this year, we expect many more very pleased whiskey drinkers amongst the current members – taste yours as it ages.

With the holiday season upon us, if you are in the spirit of skiing and apres drinking, check out the Winter 2016 edition of Whiskey Advocate.  Starting on page 121, a creative array of apres whiskey cocktails are detailed, with some from Aspen’s hot spots.  Upon release next year, plan to see Hoover’s Revenge featured in several of these delicious apres ski delights!
